FYI Sports Fans | Backyard Rink Files #2

With several weeks of good cold weather, lakes are frozen, snow is flying, and hockey pucks are wingin' at Fyisportsfans.com Arena. Action includes 2 on 2, some 3 on 3, and lots of shooting practice and 2 on 1s. Ice conditions are excellent following several late night resurfacings. Action peaked when Nick challenged me to a fisticuff, and much to the latter's surprise, he popped me with an unexpected left to the right eye. With no harm done, and no real breaking of rink rule #2 ("No Fighting"), I took revenge by taking Nick's number -- 93, btw -- and playing the body for the rest of the game, and along the way showing how important it is to "keep yer head up"!!! Of special note is that the "old guys" (YT and Mr. T) swept "the kids" Nick and Kyle in 2-on-2 by scores of 10-2 and 5-4. Hey, we even had a first when yours truly donned the pads and played goalie for a night. Needless to say, it's definitely a tiring position, especially when you lack sound mechanics (or in my case, when you lack any mechanics...). Great fun. Stay tuned for more!!
