Today, Barry Bonds re-signed with the San Francisco Giants. The deal was short of what expected but he decided to stay. Bonds wanted somewhere around 2 years and $40 million, coming out to $20 million a year. So, he lost $4 million dollars. Barry Bonds has 731 home runs in his 20 year career. I think if Bonds doesn't hit number 756, he will play one more year. Barry Bonds had a meeting on Wednesday with Jim Leyland, the Tigers manager, who coached Bonds early on in his career. Back to the money issue, if Barry Bonds performs well, he could get a total of $20 million this year. That was probably the only reason why Barry accepted the contract. If Bonds has another season like last year, he will catch Hank Aaron and pass him. Barry Bonds hit 26 homers last year. 26 homers this year would put him at 757, passing Aaron. But, even if he passes him, there should be an asterisk next to his total in the Baseball Record books, because he possibly took steroids.
