Michigan.  Ohio State.  Are you ready?

Today is unlike any other day.  Never before will we see anything like this.

Sure, today is Saturday, college football day.  But not like any other college football day.  Today, a game will be played unlike any other.  Michigan.  Ohio State.  #1 vs. #2.

This rivalry goes back a long time, 102 years in fact, when the first Michigan - OSU game was played.  Michigan won, and that sparked a rivalry that continues today.

The Ohio State Buckeyes come into today's game ranked #1.  With their high powered offense, led by top-ranked Heisman canidate Troy Smith, and running back Antonio Pittman.  The Buckeyes also have another force in the offense, Ted Ginn Jr.  Ted can really do it all.  Catch, run, return kicks, return punts.  But it's not Ginn that the
Buckeyes need a big game from, it's Troy Smith.

If Troy can do what he's done all year, which is lead OSU to an undefeated record, the
Buckeyes have a real good shot to win this game.  Troy has gave Michigan nightmares
over the past two years.  Smith ran for his first 100 yard game against Michigan in 2004,
then got his first 300 yards passing against Michigan in 2005.  The result: Ohio State
won both of those games.

The Buckeyes D has been great this year.  Everyone thought that their defense would
be too inexperienced to win the big games.  But, when a D loses 9 starters, and the next
season their undefeated, you know Jim Tressel has got them ready and playing to their
full potential.

The Michigan Wolverines are also undefeated.  They are ranked second in the BCS, and
need to win this game.

There will be heavy hearts on the sidelines, with the
passing of former Michigan coach and mentor Bo Schembechler.  I'm sure that Bo's speech he gave to the team on Thursday has fired them up and they are poised to win this game.

Michigan has a great offense that can be explosive when they want to.  Led by Junior quarterback Chad Henne, and running back Michael Hart, Michigan can put forth a beatdown on an opponent any day.  Henne has a number of options.  The most explosive of those options is Mario Manningham.  Mario was a potential Heisman canidate before he has knee surgery, but is now back and ready to be the player he was before he got hurt.  The Maize 'n Blue also have Steve Breaston, who can break out a long gain or punt return at any time.

On the flip side, Michigan has been big up front, leading the NCAA in rush defense.  LaMar
Woodley has been a force, along with Leon Hall.  The Michigan D needs to realize that Smith
can run and pass now, and they need to be able to spread out to cover all of Smith's
recievers, and play physical enough to stop Pittman.

I really think that Michigan will win this game.  But to win, their defense needs to stop Troy Smith.  If Michigan can do that, and win the special teams, they have a real good shot to win.
