Soriano agrees with Cubs
All-Star outfielder Alfonso Soriano agreed to a eight-year contract worth approximately $136 million Sunday.

This shows that the Cubs are now serious about winning.  First they bring in manager Lou Pinella.  They have already re-signed third baseman Aramis Ramirez to a five-year, $73 million deal, signed free agent Mark DeRosa to play second base and re-signed pitchers Kerry Wood and Wade Miller.

Even with these additions, I still think that they are a good 2-3 years before they start to win again.
